The World number one Novak Djokovic was on good form with a victory over Haider-Maurer 6-4 6-1 6-2 to move into the third round at Flushing meadows. Novak will now face Andreas Seppi from Italy.
Rafael Nadal progressed into the third round with a straight sets victory over Diego Schwartzman from Argentina 7-6 6-3 7-5. As Nadal has fallen to number eight in the world rankings he could meet Djokovic as early as the quarter-finals stage in New York.
